The fifth annual, 2005
Miss Caribbean U.S Pageant, was a marked improvement over last years
affair. As I
entered the hall at the River Banquet Ballroom
I was impressed with the white linen table cloth and complimentary
champagne to-boot. From a personal point of view
the lighting though quite acceptable for Another notable point was the relative upbeat atmosphere. Last year's judge's decision for Queen resulted in a very contentious letting of ill-feelings by some of the contestants and their parents, which I thought was quite unjustified. I don't think there was ever a more clear-cut winner than the 2004 Queen , Miss Anguilla. I suspect that as Kishma Bryant stood there watching the line of well wishers clamoring to get close to the new Queen. She might have reflected on her day back in 2004. And the winner is....Keshama Benjamin: Miss Antigua/Barbuda. Queen of the 2005 Miss Caribbean U.S Pageant. Keshama is a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High and attended the University of [Buffalo]. Keshama has held executive positions in Maliki Kambe Uamfazi Sorority, and the Caribbean Student[s] Association. Keshama is currently a second grade teacher in the New York City Public School System. ...knowing and loving her culture....acknowledging the past [as] an important tool in actualizing and reaching goals. Keshama welcomes the opportunity in this pageant to portray the coming together of Caribbean and American culture[s]. Good luck Miss Keshama Benjamin. -- Biographical material taken from Miss Caribbean U.S.A Beauty Queen Pageant, program.
